JDRF’s mission has been constant since the day we were founded in 1971: find a cure for diabetes, fast. But we have not as yet found a cure and have a sense of urgency to accelerate progress.
To ensure we do, we are:
... increasing our level of active management of research vs. passive grant funding.
...dramatically increasing our focus on conducting proof-of-concept trials and translating discoveries made about the causes and mechanisms of diabetes into therapeutics, while still maintaining aggressive efforts in discovery research.
...supporting approaches that accelerate therapeutic development, such as team science and clinical trials, and partnering with industry, like biotech and drug development companies as well as with academia.
In short, we’re driving the discovery, development and delivery of therapeutics to improve the lives of people with diabetes and eventually to cure it.
